Former City of Chelmsford and New Hall swimmer, Jack Skerry is well on his way to becoming one of Britain’s finest Backstroke competitors.
Following on from his under 23 success as the 100m Backstroke European champion (photo), Jack returned to LEN in 2026 to contend the medals, this time at senior level.
Finishing the semi’s 7th in 53.21, his finals time of 53.65 left him just outside the medals in 4th. In the 50m Backstroke sprint, Jack finished a creditable 14th.
Just weeks earlier, Jack was racing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where very similar times saw him finish 4th in both the 100m (53.43) and 50m (24.68) Backstroke and 7th in the 200m at his international senior debut. Fourth is always the hardest place to accept; but with improvement like this, we can expect to be hearing Jack’s name again in the near future, when it comes to international Backstroke finals.
As well as representing TeamGB at international level, Jack is currently studying and training at the University of Bath.
