Essex County swimmers joined in the Swim England East Region Open Water Championships on Sunday 13th July at the beautiful lake in Whitlingham Adventure, Norwich.
We had fine warm weather all day and the excitement of a fly pass by the Red Arrows mid-afternoon, who were attending another event in Norwich.
Essex has 32 swimmers competing in the 1 Km race, 22 swimmers in the 2 km race, 24 swimmers in the 3km race and 14 swimmers in the 5 km race, which included 3 para swimmers. A total of 16 Essex clubs were represented at the meet.
The R A Jones Challenge cup, for the top 5 km male swimmer, was won by Daniel Thompson from Thurrock swimming club.
The presentation was made by Robert Stephens deputising for the 2025 Essex Swimming President, Helen Stephens.
