Start Date: Immediate

Salary:  Competitive hourly rates dependant on qualifications

Closing Date: 29th June 2018

Job Reference: MSSC

Maldon Sharks Swimming Club is looking to recruit a new Head Coach with an immediate start date. This would enable the successful candidate a short period of working with the team to then take full responsibility at the start of the season in September.

The club is small competitive yet friendly and has been running for 13 years in the Maldon area. MSSC is part of Essex ASA and Swim England East Region and holds the SwimMark accreditation. During this relatively short time the club has produced swimmers at County and Regional levels. The club currently enters the Essex Mini League. There is potential to re-establish our Junior Development squad and perhaps incorporate a Masters section.

This is an exciting opportunity for a new Head Coach to work with the Committee and Coaching team to develop the club and build on our existing successes. Strong communication, organisation and management skills are vital as is the ability to motivate both swimmers and coaches to implement the Annual Plan for the club, as well as encouraging volunteers and parents to become more engaged with the club. We are looking for an individual to bring the very best out of each swimmer through the delivery of an inspiring programme for all swimmers.

We are ideally looking for someone Level 3 qualified but will consider a level 2 qualified coach (working towards a level 3 qualification) with experience at all levels from Development through to Regional.

A competitive hourly rate is offered for the successful candidate ideally with an immediate starting date, subject to the necessary DBS checks and references.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with a professional and committed approach to managing the coaching team through regular team meetings and overseeing squad programmes
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate a swimming programme and to ensure all swimmers are able to progress and reach their full potential.
  • To work with the club’s committee to facilitate the smooth operation of the club and ensure a safe environment for the swimmers.
  • To attend specified galas and give positive feedback, encouragement and support to all.

This Job Description sets out the main responsibilities of the role, but it should not be taken as a complete description of the role in its entirety.

Please note, candidates that apply and meet the criteria will be invited to an interview as soon as possible as there is an immediate position to fill.
