London Swimming - February Update

Safeguarding & Time to Listen Courses Coming Up
The Region is currently booking further Safeguarding courses for 2018. Details of courses available can be found HERE Please note that candidates between the ages of 16 and 18 can attend these courses but will need a chaperone who is not doing the course to accompany them. The Region’s criteria for support for these courses has also changed. Please see HERE for further details.
Places on these courses are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Gold Coast 2018 Swimming Squad selection
Congratulations to Anna Hopkin from Ealing SC who has been selected as part of the Team England Swimming Squad. See HERE for further details.

County and Regional Conferences / Coach Development Days – Save the dates
The County Conference will take place on Saturday 10th March 2018 . See details for the County Conference HERE. The Regional Conference will take place on the 23rd of June 2018. Details to follow in March.

Membership Renewal Changes
Please make sure your club are aware of the guidance (found HERE) regarding the forthcoming membership returns. It is important to note the deadline for all renewal batches and payments is the 28th February 2018.
Swim England are also offering reduced rates to members who affiliate during the last quarter of 2018. See HERE for further details.

Failure to submit a complete OMS batch or make payment by this date will result in the club being suspended and a late fine charged.

Changes to poolside accreditation policy for 2018
Coaches, team managers and chaperones need to ensure their Safeguarding qualification has been recorded by the Swim England Membership team in order for them to get poolside accreditation in 2018.

London Region Team International Meet 2018
Congratulations to all the Swimmers selected to represent the Region at the Flanders Cup Antwerp on the 20th and 21st of January 2018. See the results HERE

Swim Serpentine returns in 2018
Swim Serpentine will take place on Saturday 22 September 2018. The event is now in its third year. For more information, please visit

Funding – London Sport’s funding search tool can help sports organisations and individuals living and operating in the capital to access what funding grants and bursaries there are available – if your club is looking for funding then it is definitely worth a look HERE

Swimming Talent Camps 2018 Save the dates
London Region are excited to announce the dates of their 2018 Regional Swimming Talent Development Camps taking place at Trinity School Croydon. These Camps form stage two in the overall Swim England swimming development programme, following on from the County Development Camps.
The Regional camps are targeted at those swimmers aged 12 in the year of competition; so for 2018 this will be those swimmers born in 2006. For our region of London, 36 swimmers will be selected – with an even split across the genders. These swimmers will be selected post the Regional Age Group Championships 2018, based on long course rankings.
Swimmers who hope to be selected should keep the following dates free so that they are able to attend all three dates.
8th July 2018, 2nd September 2018 and 2nd December 2018.

London Swimming has a Coaches Forum, this forum is Coach led allowing coaches from London clubs to work together to help improve swimming within the London region.

Volunteering and Swim England Membership
Please note that anyone who volunteers for their Club needs to be registered as a Category 3 member with Swim England, unless they are registered already as a Cat 2 member. This applies to all Volunteers regardless of whether they are on the Club Committee or not.

The Swimathon Foundation
2018 Swimathon Foundation Community Grants Scheme are now open. They will remain open until Monday 19th March. All the information on the grants scheme including the grants criteria and application form can be found HERE.

Easy Fundraising Accounts
Signing up for a club through the site generates money through online purchases.
There are also clubs with multiple accounts and ones that aren’t being used so it might be worth checking if your club has an account and how many!
