London Swimming Club Update July 2017

Open Water Development Camp & Race Event – STOKE NEWINGTON RESERVOIR
The second part of the camp took place on the 17th June followed by the Race event on the 18th June out on open water. For the report from the Head Coach, Damien Bryan, and the results from the Race event see HERE

London Swimming Annual Conference and Council Meeting 
The 2017 ASA London Region Annual Conference and Council Meeting will be held on Saturday 16 September 2017 at The Abbey Centre, 34 Great Smith Street, SW1P 3BU.
The event will include the presentation of the London Swimming Awards 2017.

Swim England National Age Group Championships
The Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships were held in Sheffield from 6th – 9th July and saw many London Region Diving Clubs taking part.  The competition is aimed at divers from 9 – 18 years of age and includes springboard, platform and synchro events.
Congratulations to all of the divers from the region who took part and extra congratulations to those who won a total of thirteen individual and one synchro medal! For further details see HERE

Funding – London Sport’s funding search tool can help sports organisations and individuals living and operating in the capital to access what funding grants and bursaries there are available – if your club is looking for funding then it is definitely worth a look here!

Building on Strong Foundations Review – London Sport have recently carried out a Building on Strong Foundations review to get more Londoners physically active. For further details see HERE

Open Water Regional Competition 2 July 2017
The 2017 Regional Competition took place on Sunday 2nd July 2017 at Surrey Quays Watersports Centre Rotherhithe. The event was hugely successful with a higer number of swimmers taking to the water than ever before. For the results of the event please see HERE

London Region Talent Development Camp 2017 – Trinity School Croydon
The London Region Talent Camp takes place on the 9th July, 1st October and 3rd December. 36 athletes, have been selected . We hope you enjoy the Camp.

The London Region coaches forum role is

  • To give advice and assistance to promote the development and improvement of swimming within the Region
  • To provide opportunities for senior coaches to exchange views and information
  • To provide liaison with coaches within the counties, providing views and information both from the coaches in each county to the forum and from the forum to the county coaches in each county
  • To link into Swim England/England Programmes for exchange of information and views
  • To liaise with regional swimming and development groups
  • To work towards improvement of regional championships
  • To provide general guidance and review conditions and selections for overseas camps

Swim England National Open Water Festival 2017
The Swim England Open Water Festival will take place on 30th and 31st July at Rother Valley. 
It will include the National Open Water Age Groups and National Open Water Masters Championships as well as a mass participation event.

London Swimming Young Water Polo Referee Programme
Whether you want to be an international ref or are happy to be able to help your club out at matches, London Swimming wants to help you maximise your refereeing potential. See HERE for further details

Senior Coach 2017 intake
The IOS would like to let you know about the new Senior Coach 2017 intake (Level 3 as you will have previously known it). 

They will be opening up for applications week commencing the 17th July via the IoS online, the application will stay open until 1st September 2017. Successful applicants will be required to then attend an induction weekend to formally start the programme on the 18th and 19th November and then will be expected to attend 2 further learning days during the programme.

They will release further details on the 17th July once the specification and pre requisites have been finalised by the Workforce Support Services and England programmes teams.

Nominations are now open for the Swim England National Awards 2017.
The Swim England National Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate all the individual achievements and team successes of the past year.
They recognise all those involved in our sports, from members and volunteers to partners, teachers and athletes.
