Edinburgh International Meet
The region took a squad of 29 swimmers to the Edinburgh International Swim Meet which was held from 10th – 12th March 2017.

Open Water Talent Camp – Day One
On 4th March at Basildon Sporting Village, 28 swimmers from around the region took part in the first day of the Open Water Talent Camp.

Nominations Open for East Region Management Board
Nominations are open for the following regional posts:
– Regional Chairman
– Vice- Chairman
– Representative to the ASA Sport Governing Board
Elections will be held for these posts at the regional ACM on 9th September 2017.
We are keen receive applications from anyone who feels that they have the necessary skills for these pivotal regional roles. Role descriptions and information on how to apply can be found on our website HERE.

ASA East Region Office
Since the creation of regions twelve years ago, the ASA has supported regional offices by employing the divisional administrators who worked in regional offices.
As a result of a withdrawal of funding provided to the ASA, staff employed to run divisional teams, including the London and East Office Manager, Kelly Stannard, have been made redundant.
We are sure you will join us in thanking Kelly for her services to ASA East Region and wishing her good luck in her new role working in a new post for the London Region. Kelly will also be assisting the East region whilst a replacement is recruited.

Regional Winter Championships
The regional Winter Championships will be held from 3rd – 5th November 2017 in Norwich.
The Winter Championships will be held long course this year due to the Swim England Winter Meet 2017 being long course as part of the selection process for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

New Masters Regional Decathlon Competition
The East Region Masters committee is pleased to announce the launch of the East Region Decathlon competition for 2017.
The competition will run using the National Masters Decathlon format and database. Winners will be announced at the end of 2017. For more information, please click HERE.

News from Swim England
ASA has a Name Change!
It was announced on 3 April that the ASA will be changing its name to Swim England.
Clubs can find the new ‘affiliated club’ logo HERE. There is also a handy user guide included within the .zip file. These can be used on your website and promotional materials from today.
Sport England would appreciate your help to spread the word about the new name. If your club uses social media channels, we’ve created some tweets for you to use, or do write your own using the messaging provided. You can download the toolkit (HERE) we have created which contains everything you will need on the day.
National Junior Para Swimming Championships
This is a new national Para-Swimming event, for swimmers aged 10 – 16 years as at 31st December 2017.
It will be swum across 24th and 25th June in Sunderland, offering exciting racing for the more experienced swimmers and a great introduction to national events for newly classified swimmers. For more information, please click HERE
Swim England will be running two online webex workshops to help clubs with recent changes to swim21 as they prepare for upcoming submissions:
Clubs will also be receiving in the next few weeks, a new logo, to use as you wish for your accreditation. The accreditation will remain the same but the branding will have a different look.
Swimwear Rule Update
Swim England has published new guidance regarding relaxing swimwear rules for those who, for religious or medical reasons, would prefer to wear a swimsuit that covers more of their body.
