Selection Trials to be held at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Sunday, 22 April 2012

(Under ASA laws and FINA Technical Rules of Swimming)

Licensed by the ASA for entry into National and Region Championships (Licence No 1LR2252)

CONDITIONS

1.  The purpose of these Trials is to select a team to represent ESSA London Division at the ESSA inter-Division Championships to be held on 30 June/1 July 2012.

2.  Entry is open to eligible swimmers in full time attendance at a school in Greater London at the commencement of the academic year 1 September 2011.

3.  Ages for the Trials will 11 to 18 years with age as at 22 April 2012.

4.  For the ESSA inter-Division Championships there will be six age groups:

      (a) Boys aged 11 years and under 14 years – Junior

(b) Boys aged 14 years and under 16 years – Intermediate

(c) Boys aged 16 years and under 18 years – Senior

(d) Girls aged 11 years and under 14 years – Junior

(e) Girls aged 14 years and under 16 years – Intermediate

(f)  Girls aged 16 years and under 18 years – Senior

5.  The events for the Trials will be:

100 and 200 metres each stroke and 200 metres individual medley. If there is time a maximum of two heats of 400 metres freestyle and 400 metres individual medley will be considered. Swimmers interested in these events should enter them and if there is not time entry fees will be reimbursed and selection will be made based on times appearing on British Rankings on 22 April 2012.

All individual entries must be legible and on the correct entry form which appears on the ESSA London Division and the London Schools Swimming Association (LSSA) web sites http://www.essa-schoolswimming.com/londondivision.html accompanied with a stamped self-addressed envelope. For schools/clubs entering more than 10 swimmers electronic entries will be required, please contact Jackie Bedford j.bedford@essa-schoolswimming.com for the appropriate electronic entry files.

7.  The entry fee will be £5 per event plus £1 (to be paid only once) for affiliation of the school to LSSA. Entry forms and cheques made payable to ESSA London should be sent to Jackie Bedford [address] by Monday, 2 April 2012.

8.  Entries will be considered provided they are inside the set qualifying times

9.  If the Time Trials are oversubscribed and in order to keep the time of each session within the appropriate time period, the slowest entries from each age group will be rejected first.

10. To be eligible for selection to represent ESSA London Division in the above events swimmers must take part in the Trials. Only in exceptional circumstances approved by the Selection Committee will swimmers not attending the Trials be considered.

11. In addition to the above events the ESSA inter-Division Championships there will be 800 metres Open freestyle for girls and 1500 metres Open freestyle for boys. For these events selection will be made on the basis of times appearing on the British Rankings as at 22 April 2012. Swimmers should declare their interest on the entry form. There will be no entry fee but swimmers selected will be required to pay the £1 affiliation fee.

12. The sole control and management of the Time Trials will be in the hands of the Organising Committee of ESSA London Division.
